Meet the Owner

Jackie Williams is an illustrator, graphic designer, and writer based in Houston, Texas. For the past 12 years she worked as an in-house graphic designer for the National Diversity Council. She also works as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer under her personal design studio, Attawell Summer Creative. Jackie’s artistic work draws from her graphic design, art, and creative writing background to create resonating, iconic, narrative-driven projects that reflect on family, history, and nature.

Drawing is one of her earliest passions. She spent her college years perfecting her skills and artistic style. Much of her inspiration came from collage art and the lithographic prints/illustrations in vintage children’s books and the loose, stylized, gestural techniques seen in doodles, sketches, and underdrawings.

Jackie has been writing since an early age. She writes semi-autobiographical poetry and short fiction that explores family dynamics, relationships, mental health, other worlds, and magic.

She graduated from the University of Houston in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in art and a minor in art history, with time spent focusing on creative writing and graphic design. Her personal interests include genealogy, southern Black folk culture, ghost stories, and most recently, a podcast called Juncture discussing films and dream interpretation. She is a native of the Texas Gulf Coast region.
